Mildred Vara

December 8, 1927 - November 1, 2013) Mildred B Vara (nee Mulligan) was born on December 8, 1927. She grew up in Cleveland Heights, Ohio with her sister Katherine and parents Joseph and Alma. Mildred is the proud graduate of Heights High, receiving a modern language diploma for her proficiency in French. Mildred earned her BS degree in Library Science from Bowling Green State University, making lifelong friends and meeting her future husband Ralph, a veteran of World War II. Mildred and Ralph married on October 17, 1953. Mildred worked for the Heights Library System and was named head children's librarian for the Coventry Road Branch before starting her family. Mildred raised four children and a dog. She is survived by Ralph, her husband of 60 years, son Tom (Mary Jo) and their children Joseph and Carolyn:; son Timothy (Karen) and their daughter Allison; daughter Kathy Zimmermann (Tom) and their children Ellen, Emily and Tyler; and son Andy (Kari) and their children Nate, Brianna and Arianna. Mildred was an avid reader and card player, wielded a sharp wit and devoted herself to raising her family. Mildred's humor, tenacity, caring nature, and refined taste will be missed. Funeral Service Tuesday November 5, 2013 at 11:30am at the funeral home. Entombment Knollwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends at VICCHIARELLI FUNERAL HOME, 5252 MAYFIELD RD., LYNDHURST (BETWEEN RICHMOND AND BRAINARD) TUESDAY 11 AM until time of service.
